The Founder's Vision

Al Maynard, our founder, was born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia. A veteran of World War II, he returned home with a vision for the future. In 1947, that vision became reality when he opened Maynard Furniture Company in Belton, South Carolina.

What started as a modest storefront quickly grew through Al's dedication to his customers. Over the next decade, the business flourished, requiring new showrooms and warehouses to serve the growing community. By 1960, the Maynard name had expanded beyond Belton, with an antique store in Highlands, North Carolina, marking the beginning of a regional legacy.

Generations of Excellence

The tradition of family leadership continued when Al’s son, Rex, joined the business in 1969. Under his stewardship, the company diversified, exploring new avenues in outdoor and leather furniture while maintaining the core values established by his father. A new showroom near Greenville expanded our reach, even as the original Belton location continued to thrive with the addition of a carpet warehouse.

Today, the third generation carries the torch. Rex’s son, Alderman, joined in 1999, followed by Blake Maynard in 2004. Their arrival marked a new era of expansion, with a second major location opening on I-85 in Piedmont in 2001, and "The Back Room" addition in 2010. For over 75 years, our family has remained dedicated to one simple mission: providing quality furnishings with the service and integrity you deserve.
